Hello Friends! 1) This Sunday, 9/4– Sent like Lambs to share joy 2) Sign-up to pray! 48 hours of prayer 3) “Grand Opening” Party on Sunday, September 11 4) Alpha and Home Churches 5) Women’s Retreat 9/30-10/2 THIS SUNDAY AT 5PM- SENT TO SHARE JOY Ellie Gundlach is teaching this Sunday as we close out our “Sent like Lambs Among Wolves” series. Alongside her work with refugees at World Relief, has also been studying theology and ministry through the Covenant’s Ignite program. I’m excited to learn from her. Here’s a little preview from Ellie: For the past few weeks we have been expanding on Luke 10, and the ways Jesus commissioned His disciples like lambs among wolves. In sharing meals together and praying for healing, they were engaging in something deeper than just exhilarating connection—they were experiencing the everlasting joy of the Gospel, and inviting others to experience it for themselves. To sum up our sermon series, we’ll be talking about sharing the Gospel in our own lives, and how we can actively join Jesus in inviting others into the joy we share with Him. |
48 HOURS OF PRAYER Thursday at 3pm – Saturday 2:30pm 324 College Ave. From Psalm 63: You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water. We were made for communion with God and nothing else will satisfy our thirsty souls. As we look forward with joy to our Grand Opening on September 11, we are opening the worship space for 48 hours for you to come pray. We are creating space for you to meet with God and to pray for the needs in your life and in our community. For us, it is very simple — prayer is foundation for us as a church. We can do nothing of worth outside of God. We have a lot of open slots. Take a hour or three chunk or several of them. 3 AM is the best time, by the way. We will end our prayer vigil with a communion service from 2:30-3:00 PM. This will occur on-site, in person in the sanctuary at 324 College Avenue. Sign up for your slot here. MONDAY NIGHT PRAYERSep. 5th.- 9PM – 920PM Our last Monday Night prayer meeting will meet this Monday. All welcome — we’ll meet on this video conference call here: meet.google.com/dvu-mfev-noa |
GRAND OPENING – SEPTEMBER 11, 2022 We’re throwing a big party to mark our “Grand Opening” as a church. We began as a launch team of about 40 adults in the midst of a pandemic, a wild mix of people wanting to practice the simple way of Jesus together. It has been quite the adventure over the past year as we’ve met and planned, gathered in homes, held preview services, prayed, shared meals, worshipped. But we believe God is just getting started with us. We’re excited about the new friends who are joining and will join us. We’re excited that Jesus is still calling, making, and sending disciples in Modesto and beyond. So we’re going to have some fun — Foxwood RealFood Truck will be there! We’ll have some bounce houses for the kids, and we are going to worship. Spread the invites far and wide (copy and paste image here), everybody is welcome! To mark our Grand Opening we are going to be taking a special offering for Youth for Christ and their work with youth in South Modesto and youth transitioning out of incarceration. |
WE LOVE (AND NEED) VOLUNTEERS FOR OUR CHILDREN’S MINISTRY We have been blown away by the large number of children coming to Radiant. What an opportunity and responsibility to nourish their faith in Christ! While we have an amazing team of volunteers, we do have a felt need for more volunteers in all age groups as we schedule out the fall. Would you be open to helping in this ministry once or twice a month? We’ll train you and always pair you up with another teacher. It is alway two adults per class. Text Jill Riley at 209 497-3720 if you are interested in learning more. THE ALPHA COURSE IS COMING The Alpha Course is coming to Radiant! What is Alpha? Alpha is a series of conversations about things we all question in life: Why do bad things happen to good people? What’s the purpose of life? What’s next? It’s for those exploring Jesus, for those who are skeptical, for those who want to be refreshed. If you’re looking for a judgment-free space to ask hard questions and share your own opinion, there’s a place for you. It is an 11 week course, but you are welcome to come to the first gathering to check it out, no commitment required. This is a great community to invite friends who are exploring faith. The plan is to meet on Thursdays, starting September 22nd. 6-8PM. Dinner Included! We’ll meet at 324 College Ave. We’ll have sign-ups live soon.
