June 21, 2024
Dear Radiant,
We’re starting a new series on Paul’s letter to the Colossians this week. Jim Jacobs is teaching — here’s a guest blog post from him:
“I am not a car guy. I couldn’t tell you the difference between a doodad, and a whatchamacallit. I try my best, but that is not something I have been gifted in. So when it comes to car repairs, I go to people or shops that I trust to get the job done right. But what happens when we go to an oil change shop? We usually disregard the services offered because we don’t know them from Adam. We don’t trust them. As we begin this new series on Colossians, we see Paul writing a letter to a church plant in Colossae, one that he has never met. Fast forward 2000 years, and we can see that Paul is not just writing to the Church in Colossae, but also a church plant in Modesto, California. Brothers and Sisters, he is writing to our church. May we listen to Paul’s message to the Colossians, as though he is speaking to us today.”
We’ll see you Sunday at 5!
(Reminder — we’ll have the town hall meeting right after worship with pizza and childcare provided)

TOWN HALL MEETING ABOUT SERVICE LOCATIONS – THIS SUNDAY, JUNE 23
We have an opportunity to rent space at MJC’s recital hall for a morning worship service later this summer and fall. We are curious about how this might open some new possibilities for us as we pursue our mission of making more disciples of Jesus who practice his simple way.
Of course, we want to get a sense of the congregation’s thoughts, preferences, and openness to serve as we consider this and the multiple options before us.
I’m sure you have a lot of questions. So do we! A couple of things to help get the conversation rolling:
1) Please fill out this survey. This will really help us get a pulse on where people are at.
2) Plan on attending our “town hall” meeting on Sunday June 23 following our worship service where we will present the vision behind this possible move, hash out some details, and have an opportunity for questions and discussion. WE’LL PROVIDE PIZZA AND CHILDCARE!

Unite will be “a transformative five-day event filled with powerful worship, engaging youth group sessions, heartfelt prayer, exhilarating afternoon activities, and meaningful acts of service.” We would love to support our students going — if you’d like to contribute to covering costs you can give here and select Unite Conference from the pull down menu.
WOMEN’S CONFERENCE AT MISSION SPRINGS OCTOBER 4-6 2024
BLESSED AND BROKEN: Jesus took the bread, blessed the bread, broke the bread, and gave the bread. These four words not only summarize the life of Jesus but are central to our spiritual lives as well. Join us for an unforgettable weekend with other women where we dive into what it means to live as chosen, blessed, broken, and given children of God. This conference is hosted at Mission Springs conference center in Scotts Valley, CA and will be a gathering of women from many Covenant churches in our region.
