August 8, 2025

Hey Radiant,

A sort of obscure, short Old Testament book called Haggai, may hold the key to spiritual awakening in our times.

At least that’s what I am starting to think.

Haggai spoke with force and hope in a time of spiritual malaise and distraction.  The LORD used his words to wake people up to the power and surprising proximity of his presence.

The last couple of months I’ve been chewing on this and I can’t wait to share more. This Sunday as we begin our new teaching series — “Holy Discontent: A Vision of Renewal from the Prophet Haggai.”

See you Sunday at 10am!

P.S. Don’t forget it’s a bike to church Sunday and we’re buying a bunch of donuts for bikers and non-bikers alike to kick off the school year!

We’re also going to buy a bunch of donuts to enjoy as well for bikers and non-bikers alike.  Safety first, wear a helmet and go for the raised glaze — we’ll take a photo at 9:50ish with all the bikers!

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY VOLUNTEERS MEETING AUGUST 10 at 6PM
I am not going to try and “sell” you on considering volunteering for Radiant’s children’s ministry.  Sure, we could use some volunteers as we fill out the fall schedule and we are praying for this.  At the same time, I don’t want you respond based on needs — rather from prompting by God.  Friends it is an amazing privilege to serve precious children in the name of Jesus.  This verse is just an jaw-dropping promise from Mark 9:37: “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me.” So we are looking for volunteers who can serve once a month (or even once every two months would be helpful).  Indicate your interest here.   There will be a volunteer and parent meeting on 8/10 at 6PM at ELC.

MEN’S GATHERING THIS WEDNESDAY 6-7AM
Guys, we’re kicking it into gear again. We will gather this Wednesday from 6-7am at the ELC fellowship hall.

NEWCOMER’S PIZZA – AUGUST 17

If you are newer or newish to Radiant and would like to learn more about our story, what we believe and how we practice it — Jill and Zach would love to have you over for some pizza.  Not only are we excited to share about the church — but we’re actually more excited to get to know you.  Kids most welcome!  We’ll meet at the Riley’s house — 1128 Mills Ave  at 12pm on Sunday, August 17.  Sign up here to let us know who’s coming and so we can get enough pizza.

24-7 PRAYER WEEK SEPTEMBER 1-7

We are going to pray for a week straight, 24 hours a day.  Yes, even at 3am.  But it will not just be us, we are joining in with the 24-7prayer movement’s Global Week of Prayer and inviting anybody around who wants to, to join us in prayer.  This is organically and beautifully coming together as near dates near.  Here’s how it is going to work: Kingdom Coffee is awesomely and graciously hosting the time by opening their office/prayer room located at their cafe (2401 E Orangeburg Ave suite 100).  We will soon send out a live, collaborative online sign up sheet where anyone can sign up to prayer in person at the prayer room for a hour or two slot during that week. Our own Ulisses Vasquez (who is also our Youth Director) is steering this and would love some help if you feel drawn to it.  More info to come. WOMEN’S RETREAT REGISTRATION

October 3-5 at Mission Springs Conference Center.

We spend our lives avoiding the wilderness. Yet it is often in the wilderness that we encounter the Lord’s provision, promises, and presence. We even read that Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, was led in the wilderness. What can we learn from time spent in the wilderness?  This special weekend is designed to be a transformative experience, offering countless opportunities to connect with other women and be refreshed.

BAND APP

One way to connect at Radiant is to join our BAND APP group. Think of this as a sort of Radiant message board — our own little social media space. People can extend invites, share about needs and opportunities.

PRAYER

Please join us for pre service every Sunday at 9am at MJC.  We meet in the courtyard adjacent to our Children’s church classrooms.

GIVING
Thank you for your generosity and partnership in Radiant’s ministry!

Here’s the link to online giving.

Grace and Peace!
