FREEDOM TO BEAR FRUIT – THIS SUNDAY @ 11:15 AM.
We’re excited to have our own Jim Jacobs teaching this Sunday! Here’s a preview from Jim:
We have been given a gift.
God’s gift to us is grace through faith.
This isn’t from anything that we could ever hope to do or achieve. It is an unmerited gift from God.
God’s grace has set us free – free to walk with God; free to love God and to love others.
But many times we use that freedom to take things into our own hands. We return to the works that chained us down, and attempt to pull us up by our own bootstraps.
In Galatians 5, Paul Highlights the dangers of doing just that. The church is called to instead Walk by the Spirit, and He will bring out His fruit.
We have a choice. Shall we walk on our own, with the weight of the law on our shoulders; or walk in the Spirit, in freedom.
SERVICE TIME UPDATE – 5PM STARTING AUGUST 14th!
Thanks for your responses to the service time change survey.
As mentioned last Sunday’s service, the survey showed most were in favor of changing our gathering time from 11:15 AM to the late afternoon, or evening.
So we’re moving forward in faith.
Starting August 14th, 5PM will be our new worship service time. Our location will remain at Emanuel Lutheran (324 College Ave).
While no time works perfectly for everyone, 5PM was the most popular time on the survey.
We like how a 5PM service allows folks to finish the weekend and enter the week with worship. We like how it will allow some folks who work on Sundays to worship. We like the idea of dinners after church together. We like how it’s not too late in the evening and not too early. We like that’s a little bit different.
I know for some this is deeply disappointing. These sorts of changes can be hard and disruptive for families. I am so sorry. I totally get it and I would be glad to connect with you around your concerns.
But we believe there’s also great opportunity in this challenge. God is at work and active and will use our availability to him (even at 5pm!) to reach others with his relentless love.
To be sure, Radiant’s impact won’t be linked to having the best or ideal worship service time or space but rather whether or not God’s presence is with us. That’s our prayer.
We will continue to worship at 11:15 AM on July 24th, July 31, and August 7th.
Starting August 14th, we’ll be at the same ELC campus but at 5PM!
Friends, I am excited for the adventure ahead.
