Hey Radiant,
In the kingdom revolution of Jesus “everyone gets to play.”
No one is a mere onlooker. As Billy Graham once said, “Christianity is not a spectator sport. It’s something in which we become totally involved.”
We all have a part to play, a unique calling to unfold as we join Jesus in proclaiming and demonstrating the kingdom of God, on earth as it is in heaven.
This is God’s design and frankly, I am little stunned by this. The Lord could have just done it all himself. Why involve us? We usually mess things up. Aren’t we terribly unqualified?
But it seems his grand plan is to include us, little clay jars and broken vessels, to show forth his love and glory. He believes in us, it seems, often more than we believe in ourselves.
In that vein, we are starting a teaching series about what it means for us to join in on the work of God in the world. I am excited to re-center in the crazy truth that he prepared good works in advance for each of us to do.
Everyone one of us — even you — has a part.
So, the only response that’s fitting is for us to say — “well then, let’s play!”

HOLY SPIRIT CONFERENCE STARTS TOMORROW
We have N.T. Wright (amazing New Testament scholar), Tim Mackie (of the Bible Project!), and more coming for a Holy Spirit conference! Well, let me clarify….Bridgetown church in Portland is actually hosting their seventh annual Holy Spirit conference with those great speakers. We are going to be joining the conference via livestream together, learning and practicing what it means to welcome the Holy Spirit in our lives.

We will be gathering at Modesto Covenant Church 913 Floyd Ave.for the livestream. We will meet in Building 105D on Friday. And then in the Front Room on Saturday.
We understand that not everyone will be able to attend the entire conference — but you are welcome you to join the sessions that work for you. We will be using Modesto Covenant’s (913 Floyd Ave) 105D and front room for this event. Kids are welcome to come too but supervision of children will be parents’ responsibility.

SUPER BOWL SUNDAY FUN!
While I’m bummed the 49ers aren’t playing this year in the Super Bowl, we are going to have some post church football fun this Sunday, 2/9. We’ll have some hot dogs and chips and maybe even some football games — (i.e. kicking field goals, punting, a little touch football) after the service. FYI — I am a halfway decent punter.

Men! You are up! This Wednesday from 6-7AM at ELC’s fellowship hall for a time of community and prayer.

Join us for a weekend of impact, challenge, and fun as we worship, fellowship, and grow in our faith journey in beautiful Mission Springs. It is guaranteed to bless your soul. Our hope is that the men at the conference will feel empowered to rise up as husbands, fathers, and men of faith. Despite their feelings, circumstances, or situations, they will seek out God. Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deed.
