Dear Radiant,
Of course, these are fraught times politically. We’re already deep into a tense election cycle. The voices are getting loud. Fear mongers continue to monger.
I am not particularly excited to bring politics up. Most of us don’t want to to “go there.” Part of me would like to pretend it’s irrelevant.
So when I’ve mentioned to a few people that I am going to be teaching series about politics the looks of terror I’ve received in return have been revealing. Politics and religion — everyone’s favorite combo!
The response has been: “I will be praying for you.” Which I appreciate.
But I am convinced there’s good news in Jesus for us in such a time as this. He desires to enter into this cultural crucible and invites us to follow him in these heavy days.
Beyond partisanship, factions, and fighting.
Taking guidance from the scriptures, particularly, 1 Peter 2, we’ll dive right in.
I am ready to hit the reset button and rethink some things. Let’s take a deep breath and re-center in Jesus and listen for his voice above the noise.

SECOND SUNDAY SUPPER! THIS SUNDAY at 6:15PM
With the new service times we hope to create more and more opportunities for people from each service to connect in community. One of those opportunities is the Second Sunday Supper. We’ll do a potluck at 6:15 at ELC. Bring something to share and feel free to bring friends! ****Also, come early at 6PM to join us for the baptism service in the courtyard.
UPDATE ON CHILDREN’S MINISTRY
At the moment we are hosting full children’s ministry (nursery through 5th grade) at our 10AM service. At our 5PM we are offering nursery care through age 4. Kids of all ages are always welcomed to stay in service! Of course, we are always looking for more kids ministry volunteers — once a month at one of the services would be fantastic! HOME CHURCHES!
Home churches are just beginning this fall. Radiant Home Churches are communities of discipleship in the way of Jesus and are foundational to our life as a church. Here’s a list of home churches. Each leader would be glad to connect with you.

BAPTISM SERVICE ON 10/13
Baptism is a public declaration of your faith in Jesus Christ. We are planning a baptism service on October 13th at our 5PM service. I also mentioned the opportunity to re-affirm your faith in Christ through a public declaration before the church. If you sense God leading you to either of these — I’d love to connect with you. If you are newer or newish to Radiant and would like to learn more about our story, what we believe and how we practice it — Jill and I would love to have you over for some pizza.
