Hey Radiant, We’re opening our weekly 10AM services starting this Sunday at MJC’s recital hall! We’ll also continue to meet on Sunday nights at 5PM at Emanuel Lutheran.
We’re sort of pumped for this next chapter of the journey. As I wrote last week — we just like the vibe at both places and times and are curious how this configuration play into us making disciples of Jesus in Modesto.
Excited to see you at 10am or 5pm!
LIFE CHANGE TEACHING SERIES – THE PRACTICE OF MISSION
I often hear from people who are involved in service or mission work that they went out to change the world but that they were the ones who were changed.
It’s when we are involved in a mission when we come most alive — perhaps because its then we realize that life is not just about us. We are a part of something much bigger and grander than our own little agendas.
So this Sunday we consider what it means for us to participate in Jesus’ mission, particularly through the practices of hospitality, healing, and invitation.
Maybe that sounds a bit daunting! I know it does me!
Really, this is an invitation to an adventure of reaching out the world with God’s love.
To be clear, but this doesn’t mean you need to travel somewhere else (thought you might do that!). You are uniquely made and right at this moment, positioned to express that love in the ordinary and details of your everyday lives.
God is only waiting for our yes and our attention. We’ll find him preparing the path before us.
Just watch — you’ll meet somebody that needs to know they are loved today.

THE ALPHA COURSE – BEGINS SEPTEMBER 26

The Alpha Course is returning!
What is Alpha? Alpha is a series of conversations about things we all question in life: Why do bad things happen to good people? What’s the purpose of life? What’s next? It’s for those exploring Jesus, for those who are skeptical, for those who want to be refreshed. It is an 8 week course, but you are welcome to come to the first gathering to check it out, no commitment required.
This is a great community to invite friends who are exploring faith — all questions welcomed If you’re looking for a judgment-free space to ask hard questions, share your own opinion, or even just observe, there’s a place for you. And more than that — dinner is included! Sign up here.
WOMEN’S GATHERING – THIS WEDNESDAY – 6-7AM
It’s the ladie’s turn! All women welcome to join this Wednesday at ELC fellowship hall 6-7AM.
BAPTISM SERVICE – 10/13
Baptism is a public declaration of your faith in Jesus Christ. We are planning a baptism service on October 13th at our 5PM service. I also mentioned the opportunity to re-affirm your faith in Christ through a public declaration before the church. If you sense God leading you to either of these — I’d love to connect with you. THANKS FOR TRIVIA NIGHT!
Trivia Night last Friday night was a hit (Thanks Sandra, Joe, and Matt) Around 80 people showed up at Contentment for a great time of connection and trivia. We also ended raising $750 for World Relief!

One way to connect at Radiant is to join our BAND APP group. Think of this as a sort of Radiant message board — our own little social media space. People can extend invites, share about needs and opportunities.
