Hey Radiant, Yep. We’re doing it.
We’ve decided to extend our two service experiment. Starting Sunday, September 29, we’ll gather WEEKLY at 10am at MJC’s Recital Hall & 5pm at the Emanuel Lutheran Church.
We’ll give this a shot through December and see where things are at by then.
Simply put, we just like the vibe at both places and times and are curious how this configuration play into us making disciples of Jesus in Modesto. It will probably be a bit messy as we figure this out but trust God to be at work as we make space for Him.
A few details: at the the 10am we’ll have kids church for children up to 5th grade. At the 5pm we’ll have nursery care up to age four available. Kids at either service are very welcome in service too! We actually think this can be really important too.
Of course, we can use all the help we can get in this season as we grow. If you are interested in plugging in once or twice a month on a team, that would be great. You can just reply to this email to let us know and we’ll follow up.
LIFE CHANGE TEACHING SERIES
This Sunday (at 5PM!) we are continuing the life change series!
Our lives change when they connect with the grace of God. Our job is avail ourselves to God’s grace, that is, his presence and power, through intentional spiritual practices in the mudane and majestic moments of life.
As always, Jesus shows us the way. This Sunday we’ll dig into the practice of community as a means of life transformation.
Our culture is (if I am may be so bold to suggest) is currently experiencing at wilderness of loneliness. Community is elusive. People statistically have less close friends. Social institutions are limping along, not providing the social capital they used to.
The church has a unique opportunity to be a place of transforming connection and friendship. I love how Radiant has been this place for many — but we have a long way to go.
So how did Jesus practice community? How might we follow him into a practice of community that is actually life giving and life changing?
Friends, I’m excited to dig in with you this Sunday on some practical ways we can welcome God into our lives through the practice of Christian community.

HOME CHURCHES!
Home churches are just beginning this fall. Radiant Home Churches are communities of discipleship in the way of Jesus and are foundational to our life as a church. If you are not currently in a home church, or would like to try a new home church, please fill out this interest form, and we’ll follow up with you! There are groups forming currently — about 6 or 7 taking shape.
THE ALPHA COURSE – BEGINS SEPTEMBER 26
The Alpha Course is returning!
What is Alpha? Alpha is a series of conversations about things we all question in life: Why do bad things happen to good people? What’s the purpose of life? What’s next? It’s for those exploring Jesus, for those who are skeptical, for those who want to be refreshed. It is an 8 week course, but you are welcome to come to the first gathering to check it out, no commitment required. This is a great community to invite friends who are exploring faith — all questions welcomed If you’re looking for a judgment-free space to ask hard questions, share your own opinion, or even just observe, there’s a place for you. SAMANTHA AND SERGIO WEDDING SHOWER SEPTEMBER 22 2PM
We are so excited for Sergio and Samantha! They are getting married in November and the church is hosting a co-ed wedding shower for them on 9/22 at 2PM. All welcome! They are registered at the knot.
