November 18, 2022

We’re excited to be having a “family worship service” this Sunday.  The nursery will be open, but children will join for worship and the sermon.   Our very own Jim Jacobs is bringing a word for the whole family.  This is a little preview from Jim:

When I was in college, there was one question that kept coming up in my dorm room. One essential question where battle lines were drawn. “Is Batman a superhero?” Over the last century, many nerds have speculated about this topic. Is he super? If so what are his powers? Does being ridiculously wealthy equate to a superpower?

While I’m being facetious about the superhero question, there is some truth to the question… but maybe from another light.  Are there “Super” Christians? If so, what makes them “super”? Paul is telling the Corinthian church about a “Most Excellent Way”.

As we look at 1 Corinthians 13, we will see it’s not what we can do, but who we are connected to.

See you Sunday at 5pm!

THANKSGIVING EVE SERVICE (w/ pie afterwards) 11/23 @ 7PM
On Thanksgiving eve we are celebrating a family service of Thanksgiving to God with Emanuel Lutheran Church.  The nursery will be open and kids are invited into the service.   We are grateful for ELC’s hospitality and support during our time and are excited to worship with them.   Also, we’ll have a pie party afterwards as a prologue to Thanksgiving.  Bring a pie if you’d like!

“UNWRAPPING PRESENCE” (see what we did there;)

Have you noticed that the Christmas lights are out especially early this year?  People are excited for the holidays, ready to get sentimental.  I am too.   Of course, the challenge in the hurry of the season is to be present to this sweet (sometimes difficult) time.  This Advent at Radiant, we are doing just that, focusing on slowing down and beholding the wonder of Jesus, God-with-us.

A couple ways we are doing that:
– We are creating unhurried space for prayer through our 24 hours of prayer event.  Sign up for a hour or two here.
– There will be an invitation to simplify the consumption of this season and to be generous to those in need.  More to come on this next week!
– December 18th we will host our 2nd annual Winterfest party following worship.    Bonfires, Carols, Food/Drink, and more.

Invite friends and family – we exist so that all may encounter the love of Jesus.

THE ALPHA COURSE
What is the Alpha Course?  Alpha is a series of conversations about things we all question in life: What’s the purpose of life? Why do bad things happen to good people? Is there a God?

We are meeting on Thursdays from 6-8PM. Dinner Included!  We’ll meet at  Emanuel Lutheran’s fellowship hall.
Go here for more information and to register!

HOME CHURCHES ARE NOW HOME CHURCHING
Home Churches are just getting going! Our Home Church groups are smaller communities that meet during the week where we learn to practice the simple way of Jesus.  No experience required, all are welcome.  We usually share meal, read scripture, and consider what God is up to in and through our lives.

Currently, we have five different home groups meeting at various times and locations.  If you are interested in learning about available groups and what group might be a good fit for you contact Zach at zach@radcov.org

BAND APP
One way to connect at Radiant is to join our BAND APP group.  Think of this as a sort of Radiant message board — our own little Facebook/ Craigslist space. People can extend invites, share about needs and resources.  Please join us! https://band.us/n/adaa739aX4Rca

Grace and Peace!
