GRAND OPENING & AFTER PARTY
We’re throwing a big party to mark Radiant’s “Grand Opening.” We began as a launch team of about 40 adults in the midst of a pandemic, a wild mix of people wanting to practice the simple way of Jesus together. It has been an adventure over the past year as we’ve met and planned, gathered in homes, held preview services, prayed, shared meals, and worshipped (all in the midst of a pandemic).
But we believe God is just getting started with us. We’re excited about the new friends who have and will join us. We’re excited that Jesus is still calling, making, and sending disciples in Modesto and beyond.
So we’re going to have some fun — Foxwood RealFood Truck will be there! We’ll have a bounce houses for the kids, and we are going to worship.
We’re also taking up a special offering for Youth for Christ in Modesto. They currently have a need for funds to cover hospitality costs associated with their incredible mentoring ministry in South Modesto and with youth coming out of juvenile detention. What a great way to illustrate what we are about through supporting this ministry on our Grand Opening! Radiant is going to match up to $1000 of total giving to this ministry. PSALM 23 TEACHING SERIES
In our next series, we’re taking a slow stroll through Psalm 23 to seriously savor the life changing vision of the world presented in this Psalm.
Sometimes familiarity can blind us. We’ve heard this classic scripture read at funerals, maybe you had to memorize it as a kid. It’s good hallmark material.
But have we really absorbed the astounding claims of David in verse 1: “The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.”?
What if that were true for you? For us? Can we learn to say that with confidence?
There’s a different vision and way of life available to us still.
I am excited for the Good Shepherd to walk among us and teach his ways again in this teaching series.
THE ALPHA COURSE
What is Alpha? Alpha is a series of conversations about things we all question in life: Why do bad things happen to good people? What’s the purpose of life? What’s next?
It’s for those exploring Jesus, for those who are skeptical, for those who want to be refreshed. It is an 11 week course, but you are welcome to come to the first gathering to check it out, no commitment required. This is a great community to invite friends who are exploring faith.
If you’re looking for a judgment-free space to ask hard questions and share your own opinion, there’s a place for you.
The plan is to meet on Thursdays, starting September 22nd. 6-8PM. Dinner Included! We’ll meet at 324 College Ave. Go here for more information!
WE LOVE (AND NEED) VOLUNTEERS FOR OUR CHILDREN’S MINISTRY
We have been blown away by the large number of children coming to Radiant. What an opportunity and responsibility to nourish their faith in Christ!
While we have an amazing team of volunteers, we do have a felt need for more volunteers in all age groups as we schedule out the fall. Would you be open to helping in this ministry once or twice a month?

HOME CHURCHES
We’re kicking off our Home Churches starting the week of September 18. Our Home Church groups are smaller communities that meet during the week where we learn to practice the simple way of Jesus together. No experience required, all are welcome. We usually share meal, read scripture, and consider what God is up in and through our lives. If you are interested in learning about available groups and what group might be a good fit for you please contact Zach at zach@radcov.org
